Redclyffe Transfer Station is located on Springfield Road, a few minutes southwest of Taradale. It takes various types of recycling, scrap metal, green waste, building waste, general waste and other items including retired LPG bottles and waste oils. Booking is no longer required.
If you miss your weekly kerbside recycling collection or live outside of the collection area, you can visit the Redclyffe Transfer Station recycling bay (area before weigh bridge) to get rid of your recyclable items. This service is free of charge.
We accept the following clean recyclable items:
If you are unsure of what can and cannot be recycled – talk with one of our helpful staff onsite!
*Plastic 5’s is only available and accepted at Redclyffe transfer station – not in your kerbside recycling collection service.
Bring it down to the Redclyffe Transfer Station!
The cost (see fees and charges at the bottom of this page) of getting rid of green waste at the Redclyffe transfer station is cheaper than general rubbish, so it makes sense to keep it separate. Keeping it separate allows Council to ensure it goes to a commercial composting company – which means it does not go into the landfill.
You will also be rewarded for your efforts – a $6.00 discount for separating your green waste from general waste.
There is also a commercial company that accepts residential green waste in Awatoto, Napier. For the details see: BioRich
General rubbish is accepted for a fee (see fees and charges at the bottom of this page).
Also accepted:
If you are unsure of where to dispose your general rubbish items, talk with one of our helpful staff onsite.
Paint is no longer accepted at Redcliffe Transfer Station. However, Resene and Dulux both offer paint recycling and disposal services. For details see: Paintwise and Paint Take Back
*Never pour paint down storm drains, household sinks (especially if you have a septic tank) or onto the ground.
