We want to encourage less waste going to landfill. If your household produces less waste, we are proposing to offer a fortnightly service which you’ll need to sign up for.
This proposal, if approved as part of draft amendments to our Rates Remission Policy, will go out for public consultation in mid-October. If the proposal is adopted by Council, it will come into effect at the start of 2021/22 ratings year, meaning a discount (“remission”) in your 2021/22 rates bill. If you are renting and would like to opt-in for a fortnightly service, please ask your landlord to complete the form on your behalf.
Put your wheelie bin out every second week. We will check how often it is emptied using the microchip (the RFID tag) in the bin. If it is 26 weeks or less for the year, then a remission will be applied to your next year’s rates bill.
Pre-empting the public consultation scheduled for October 2020, you can still sign-up now. Fill in the form below and from 1 October put your bin out fortnightly – or less often. We will record the number of times your bin is emptied and should the Less Waste Incentive proposal be adopted by Council, then we’ll be able to apply the remission to your 2021/22 rates bill.
We suggest using our fortnightly calendar to assist with remembering which weeks to present your bin at the kerb.
Applications for the less waste incentive 2020/2021 are now closed. Complete the form below to join the Less Waste Incentive for 2021/22.
