As part of our commitment to our water conservation strategy, this project is to help us better understand the condition of the city’s underground drinking water network, decide what else may be required to improve this asset, and find and fix any previously unknown leaks as the project progresses.
A.D Riley Ltd will be walking the streets listening for underground water leaks on the water supply pipes. They’ll be using specialist listening devices that can detect an underground leak, as often these leaks don’t come up to the surface. Its quick, non invasive and if they find anything of interest will mark it on the ground and record their findings for future repairs.
The team will look to sweep from Napier South and work their way south, via Marewa through to Maraenui and Te Awa. Works will commence May 2022 and will take up to a few weeks to complete, subject to weather and other environmental factors like noise.
This work is part of Napier City Councils works around water conservation and infrastructure maintenance.
Commencement date: 2 May 2022
