The Napier City Council are committed to improving the delivery of our wastewater services. This project will upgrade one of our critical ageing pump stations situated near the Hawkes Bay Airport. It involves the construction of a new pump station and the decomissioning of the current one. As part of this project, a low pressure sewer pump station is being installed within Hawkes Bay Airport land near the entrance of the airport carpark.
This project will improve the level of service, increase asset resilience and reduce the risk of untreated wastewater entering the Estuary.
This project is supported by a habitat remediation plan that recognises the surrounding ecological habitat. An area of sensitive vegetation will be relocated and the surrounds restored as a part of commissioning the new pump station.
During the project, a temporary detour of the cycleway will be in place through a neighbouring section owned by Hawke’s Bay Airport.
