Current filter:
Napier City Council is upgrading the sea-water well next to the National Aquarium of New Zealand, on Marine Parade, between August and October. The upgrade is necessary to raise the standard of the well to ensure it is easy to maintain and functions efficiently long into the future.
While this takes place, there may be minor disruptions to the pathway and fitness equipment at times. Every effort will be made to alleviate disruption, however, we ask that people take care when passing the site and stop on request. Traffic Management will be in place to assist pedestrians and cyclists when required.
The work has been carefully planned to minimise any time the seawater supply will be interrupted. The National Aquarium has adequate systems in place to filter and recirculate the water during these times and water quality parameters will be closely monitored by animal care staff during the upgrade. This means the sea-life don’t need to be moved and they will not be disrupted.
In progress.
To be completed by October 2022.
