Smelly, filthy, noisy, unsightly and disturbing are just a few ways to describe offensive trades. Yep, they’re tough trades but someone’s gotta do ‘em. So, if you’re looking to start a business that includes any of the below activities, we recommend you a chat with our EHO first.
If you intend doing any of the following activities you must be registered with the Council as an Offensive Trade:
An Environment Health Officer (EHO) can help you with this. There will be different requirements for different operations.
Before applying for registration you will be required to submit to the Council your business plan and a copy of that proposal/letter will go to the Hastings District Council and the Medical Officer of Health for their approval under the Health Act 1956.
Registration is renewed each year from 1st April or if the business changes hands.
