The future of the former Pirimai School site bought by Napier City Council last year is yet to be determined.
The school merged with Henry Hill School in 2002 and the 1.7ha site, on Clark Avenue, had sat empty since then.
In 2012 the Crown declared the land surplus under the Public Works Act and worked through a process to determine the next step. This process resulted in an offer to Council, the former owner, to buy back the land at the 2012 valuation, under the buy-back provisions of the Public Works Act. Council was confirmed as owner in June 2021.
Future options for the site will be brought back to Council for consideration.
