Independent Qualified Person (IQP)Mātanga Motuhake

An IQP is someone accepted by NCC as being qualified to carry out or supervise all or some of the inspection, maintenance, and reporting procedures required for a specified system stated on a compliance schedule as part of a BWoF.

What is an IQP?

An IQP is a tradesperson registered by the Council (territorial authority) who is qualified to carry out any or supervise all or some of the inspection, maintenance, reporting procedures or recommendation on certain specified systems. They are required to certify that those procedures have been fully complied with. ‘Independent’ means that the person has no financial interest in the building. It is the owner’s responsibility to employ an approved IQP and to ensure that the inspections occur at the times specified in the Compliance Schedule. Your IQP should be able to assist you complete the Application for Amended Compliance Schedule Form 11 should the need arise.
