To ensure the safety of local thrill-seekers, a permit is required to construct and operate each fairground amusement device (ride). The relevant certifications must also be presented and our Environmental Health Officers will need to inspect your equipment.
If you want to put up fairground equipment you'll first need to get a permit to occupy the site. The equipment will need to be constructed and operated in such a way as to be safe to users.
A permit for each device will be required. A fee will apply and the application must be accompanied by the current certificate of registration issued by the Department of Labour.
Environmental Health Officers will need to inspect the site - post-construction - to ensure safety standards are met before you may operate.
You can print off the Application for Permit to Operate an Amusement Device form from the ‘Related Documents’ at the top of this page, fill it out and bring it in to our Customer Service Centre at 215 Hastings Street. Or you can do everything online by completing the application form below.
Please allow 10 working days for your application to be processed.
