From Tuesday 1 August, Council’s Parks Team will be removing some trees from Parklands. This area is located to the west of Orotu Drive (250 Westminster Ave) and covers 21.3 hectares of vacant land, which is owned by the Council.

Several hundred trees will be removed for the site ahead of new housing being built on the land, which will form part of the Parklands subdivision. The works will include removal of a disused kiwifruit orchard’s shelter belt. It also includes felling macrocarpa and oldman pine trees along the back boundary of Park Island Reserve. The process will take about a month.

It is important people stay well clear of the site while the works are happening. Please choose another site for a walk including nearby Park Island.
