Generations of fun

Whether you were into Transformers or Strawberry Shortcake, Hornby Trains or Meccano, Faraday Museum of Technology has your nostalgia needs sorted and on show!

Generations of Fun exhibition opens at the museum on Monday 18 December.

Sharyn Phillips, Faraday Museum’s manager, is encouraging people to come and see the toys and games, and introduce them to their children and grand-children.

“The Faraday Museum is really about story telling across the generations, each item here can spark a conversation and ignite the imagination, it’s an opportunity to share quality time with family and friends, reminisce, wonder and remember times-gone-by!” Sharyn says.

“This is a fun show that really gives people the opportunity to step back in time and revisit the toys they played with when they were children, and to introduce those to kids today, who may be more familiar with X-Box than they are with Scalextric!”

Generations of Fun also features black and white interactive ‘sets’ or ‘photobooths’ so people can have fun becoming part of the set alongside the toys. The toys, games and past-times featured come from a range of generations and include lego, doll houses, barbies, dinky toys, vintage video consoles and more. All toys have either been loaned or donated to the Faraday Museum. The show runs until 16 March 2024.
