The city’s playgrounds are overseen by our dedicated Parks and Reserves team who work hard on maintaining and upgrading them. The Westshore Beach Playground and Riverside Park Playground in Taradale have both undergone exciting upgrades, and we're looking forward to announcing the opening of a brand new sports-themed playground at Park Island, very soon!

Destination playgrounds

Anderson Park Playground

Located in the heart of Napier in Greenmeadows, Anderson Park Playground invites families to a world of adventure and play amidst lush greenery. With its innovative play structures, including climbing frames that reach for the sky and interactive zones that spark creativity, children can embark on endless fun and exploration!

Peter and May Harris Playground

Situated along Marine Parade, the Peter and May Harris Playground is a hub of joy by the sparkling waters. Here, children can enjoy swings, slides, and themed play areas against the backdrop of the ocean. Let the kids run, slide, and swing while taking in stunning ocean views.

Gleeson Park Playground - Ready for play!

The Gleeson Park Playground on Hospital Hill has had a fabulous glow-up, and is now open for play! A carousel, wheelchair friendly trampoline, seesaw and rope climb are just some of the fun pieces that make up the new playground.

Park Island Playground - Ready for play!

Exciting news! The brand new playground at Park Island is now open and bustling with fun, featuring climbing frames, swings, a tunnel slide, in-ground trampoline, and a mini bike pump track - ready for endless playtime adventures!

Riverside Park Playground - Ready for play!

The new and improved Riverside Park playground was recently upgraded in December last year and is a fantastic area that whānau and tamariki will love! This playground is fully fenced, easily accessible and features swings, an in-ground trampoline, and more!
