Top Ten Hazards

There and many emergencies and natural disasters which pose a threat to Napier and the wider Hawke’s Bay communities, however, through a process of calculating the return rate and the impact of the event the following events have been identified as the top ten hazards for Hawke’s Bay. 

These are:

  1. Earthquake
  2. Tsunami
  3. Volcanic (ashfall)
  4. Human Pandemic
  5. Flooding and/or a storm event
  6. Animal epidemic, plant and animal pests
  7. Urban fire (multiple)
  8. Lifeline failure
  9. Rural fire
  10. Hazardous Substances Event
