Civil Defence Centres

If there is an earthquake which is longer than a minute or strong enough to knock you off your feet, then immediately evacuate out of the tsunami evacuation zones. DO NOT head to a Civil Defence Centre (CDC). Most of Napier is in the tsunami evacuation zone - it's crucial you are familiar with the Hawke's Bay Hazards Tsunami Zone Evacuation maps

In the event of an emergency other than a local source tsunami, tune in to your local radio station to find out which CDC will be open and when. You can view what centres have been activated on the Hawke's Bay Civil Defence and Emergency Management website
