With the Hastings Street Redevelopment nearing completion, we have another busy week ahead in this area which requires partial closure of Shakespeare Road (up from Hastings Street). While traffic will still be able to come down the hill, uphill traffic will need to head around via Coote Road.

The magical White Night returns to the city on Saturday 20 October. Herschell Street (from Tennyson to Browning) and Hastings Street (from Tennyson to Browning) will be fully closed from 3pm until midnight. Enjoy!

Wednesday 31 October to Thursday 1 November - Eriksen Road

Driver training is taking place on Eriksen Road on Wednesday 31 October and Thursday 1 November. The closure is from 10am to 3pm both days and applies to Eriksen from the new entranceway, through to the subdivision just past Hirinui Drive (46 Eriksen Road).

Friday 4 January – Friday 11 January - HB Summer Cycling Carnival Road Closures (multiple)

The Hawke's Bay Summer Cycling Carnival, including the 2019 Vantage Elite & U23 National Road Cycling Championships, takes place in early January and requires several partial and temporary road closures. These are pursuant to the Local Government Act 1974, section 342. Read more for details.

Bluff Hill Inspection Works: Breakwater Road (SH50) - Stop/Go People in Place. Breakwater Road (SH50) - at the Napier Port southern entrance just past Coote Road - will be CLOSED from midday on Monday 1 October. The reason? Investigations are required to assess the stability of the Napier Hill along this section of road.

30 August 2018 to 29 August 2019 - Craven Terrace

Road Closure - Craven Terrace (between 22 Craven and Colenso Avenue). We've closed off the top half of Craven Terrace to prevent further subsidence - and to begin work on shoring up the road. Residents will have full access from Tennyson - but you won't be able to come down to Craven from the Hill, or whizz up to Colenso via Craven. This closure will be in place for a year (until 29 August 2019).

11 March 2018 to 10 March 2019 - Puketitiri Road

Temporary Speed Limit Change - Puketitiri Road There's a temporary one-year speed limit change from 100km/h to 80km/h on Puketitiri Road. Not the whole road - the strip from 50m north-west of Church Road the (roundabout) to 150m west of Poraiti Road. This change goes into effect from midnight on Sunday 11 March. The rationale for the reduced speed? Road works, new road layout changes and increased logging traffic.

Napier takes precautionary approach to positive water test

Napier City Council has this afternoon chlorinated the water in one of its reservoirs after routine testing returned a positive test for e-coli. The reservoir is the Enfield Rd reservoir and it services much of Napier including Taradale and Bay View during peak season. All other reservoirs tested on the same day returned clear results.
