NCC’s attractions are jam-packed with action this April school holidays with the National Aquarium of New Zealand, Napier Libraries, Faraday Centre, Napier Aquatic Centre and Municipal Theatre all planning fun activities to keep the kids entertained.

The Aquarium is adding a splash of colour to the holidays by celebrating the wonderful colours of animals in their 'Eyes on Nature' activity. Children can learn about colouration by finding five animals at the Aquarium and identifying their type of colouration. Visitors can also create their own colouration design for a little penguin/ kororā, tuatara or fish and see them displayed on the digital screen in the oceanarium.  To continue with the colourful theme, children can also get their face painted in their favourite animal’s colours (weekdays only).

The Aquarium’s school holiday programme is also popular. This April kids can head outside and explore the rocky shore. The programme runs from Monday 26th to Friday 30th April. Spaces are limited and costs apply – visit nationalaquarium.co.nz for more information.

Crafty kids will enjoy heading to The Faraday Centre for string art workshops where children will learn a new skill and come home with a fun piece of art. Visit faradaycentre.org.nz for further details and to purchase tickets.

Napier Libraries have robotic-themed activities for all ages over the holidays.  Activities include themed Lego sessions, story times, and meeting a special mini coding robot called Dash. Children can also enjoy 3D printer sessions, a quiz night and cracking the code by finding the hidden clues around the library.  Go to napierlibrary.co.nz to view the full programme.

Taradale Library is also holding a Remembrance Day at the Taradale RSA on Wednesday 28th April between 10am and 2pm. Suitable for all ages, there will be a mixture of ANZAC-themed activities including stories, crafts, cookie decorating, and you can even contribute to the field of poppies painting. Story times will be at 11am and 1pm.

Napier Aquatic Centre has an action-packed OSCAR-approved holiday programme. Filled with adventures, this programme is much more than water based activities. Visit napieraquatic.co.nz for details and pricing.

For a special show to end the holidays, head to Napier Municipal Theatre to watch the musical Madagascar. The smash hit Dreamworks motion picture has taken to the stage, with five shows on Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at the theatre box office or online at Napier Municipal Theatre.
