Icehouse CEO to speak at Business Breakfast

Insight and wisdom to help businesses grow and succeed. Napier City Council’s next business breakfast will provide just that, with guest speaker Andy Hamilton, CEO of The Icehouse.

The Icehouse is a business growth centre that enables small to medium enterprises to significantly grow. It is a charitable organisation founded by the University of Auckland Business School and some well-known New Zealand and International Companies – BNZ, The Boston Consulting Group, Ernst & Young, HP, Microsoft and (then) Telecom.

Since 2001, The Icehouse has worked with 169 start-ups and 1,500 established businesses. It has raised $110m and created 2,993 new jobs with these start-ups. In 2010, The Icehouse was recognised as one of the top ten technology hubs in the world by Forbes.com, the only such group out of the USA.

Andy Hamilton was the first person ever employed at The Icehouse. He will share his wisdom and leadership advice and speak about how businesses can identify gaps to get to the next level.

Andy is a member of angel investment network Ice Angels, is on the board of Icehouse Ventures and an investor in the Icehouse’s investment funds. He is a shareholder in Blue Frog Breakfast and a shareholder and Director of FaceMe.

In 2009, Andy’s contribution to the entrepreneurial market in New Zealand was recognised with the award of the Individual Contribution to SMEs at the Vero Business Excellence Awards and an emerging leader award for the Sir Peter Blake Trust. In 2019 Andy was awarded an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit for Services to Business.

The business breakfast is being held on Monday 23 September at the Napier Conference Centre, Marine Parade. Arrive at 7am for a light breakfast, Andy begins speaking at 7:30am. If you're coming, you'll need to let us know by Wednesday 18 September. Book via our website.
