Become a Licensed Dog Owner and SAVE!

Published: 2 May 2018

The math, as they say, is a no-brainer. It's a one-off $50 fee to become a Licensed Dog Owner: each year thereafter you'll save $36 on your dog rego costs.

We'd like to offer you the opportunity to save money on your annual dog registration fee by becoming a Licensed Dog Owner.

To qualify, there’s a small list of requirements you'll need to meet including:

  • your dog must already be registered for a minimum of one year
  • you’ve always paid your annual registration fee and on time
  • you’ve not had any infringeable offences or had your dog impounded in the past two years.

It costs just $50 to become a Licensed Owner (or $5 if you’re 65 years and over). Once you're on our books, your normal annual registration fee of $96 will reduce to $60 for this year and beyond. That’s a saving of $36 per year!

Now for the fine print: you'll need to become licensed before Thursday 31 May 2018 to receive the discounted rate for 2018/19. Then we'll send out the annual registration fee notices in early June. So make sure you call in and see us soon!

To apply visit Napier City Council's Customer Service Centre at 215 Hastings Street, Napier. And for more information on dog registration, visit our website.
