Spies soon to hit our city

Published: 9 May 2017

It’s nearly time to play i-SPY on a grand scale and discover Napier all over again.

The fourth annual i-SPY Fun Challenge begins at the Soundshell, Napier, at 11am on Sunday 4 June, with many prizes up for grabs. Teams that complete the challenge within the two-hour time limit also have the chance to win an ultimate (local) family experience worth more than $2500.

Open to people of all ages, the challenge takes people on a journey through Napier’s inner city and along Marine Parade following intriguing and fun-filled clues.

New activities have been added to this year’s event, says Jane Libby, Manager of the Napier i-SITE which runs this popular event, and her team is really excited about this year’s event. “We have fantastic prizes from our partners, and an exciting line-up of entertainment, from singers to dancers. We encourage fancy dress and really love it when teams put some real creative thought into their names – and outfits!”

She also encourages people to hit the Par2 MiniGolf park, which will have half price entry all day.

Teams can choose between two challenges; the Up & Down challenge, which as the name suggests, includes steps, ramps and hill work, and the Town & Around course, which follows a flat route and is suitable for small children and people of all fitness levels.

The event started from Napier City Council’s desire to highlight the profile of the Napier i-SITE, so locals understood that they, too, are always welcome there as visitors.

The knowledge of the team at the Napier i-SITE can help anyone and everyone, says Ms Libby.

Registrations open at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday 10 May) for teams of between two and four people. It’s free, and those who register before Wednesday 24 May go into a draw to win an early-bird prize pack worth $500. Anyone who chooses to can make a donation, in lieu of an entry fee, of $5 per team, with the proceeds going to SPCA Napier.

You can register at www.napiernz.com, www.facebook.com/napierisite or in person any time at the Napier i-SITE, Marine Parade, Napier.

Registrations close at 4pm on Saturday 3 June. There will be no registrations on the day.
