We want your feedback about trading on Easter Sunday

Napier City Council wants to know what people think about allowing Napier shops to be open for trading on Easter Sunday.

In August this year the Government amended the Shop Trading Hours Act, which means local Councils can adopt a policy giving retailers the option to open on Easter Sunday. Currently only retailers in cities or districts with exemptions are allowed to open on this day.

Council is running a survey until Friday 4 November to find out what Napier residents think of this option, which could cover all retailers within Napier city boundaries.

Formal consultation on Easter Sunday trading will be carried out early next year. The survey is an opportunity to give staff and councillors some initial feedback before this begins.
