Hardinge Road is the safest place to go in Napier if planning a dip in the sea.
The Pacific Surf Life Saving Club is patrolling the Ahuriri beaches, from Te Karaka (Perfume Point), to the little sandy cove near Napier Port.
If you want to cool off, it’s best to swim between the red and yellow flags at the patrolled beaches. There are patrols operating at Westshore and Waipatiki
as well.
Stay away from the Marine Parade beach, as it is unsafe for swimming due to a steep drop-off, strong undertow and unpredictable waves. Even the strongest swimmers can struggle in these conditions.
