We will do this in partnership with Hawke’s Bay’s other councils: Central Hawke’s Bay District Council, Hastings District Council and Wairoa District Council.
The government has requested we look at how we deliver water under its Local Water Done Well policy. We will go out to our community for feedback in the first half of
this year.
The future of water service delivery is a significant and lasting decision, with intergenerational impacts for Hawke’s Bay.
Whichever model we decide for the future of water here, change is coming to water services delivery, ‘doing nothing’ or keeping with the status quo is not an option.
We have some big decisions to make about how we deliver water services in the future. Input from all parts of our community is vital to decision making. Together, our Hawke’s Bay communities need to think strategically, not just about what’s right in front of us, but about the legacy we are leaving for generations to come.
