Drama, action, comedy, social connection and a fun afternoon at the cinema!

‘Silver Screen Series’ is a series of movies with afternoon tea at MTG Century Theatre starting at 1.30pm on Wednesday 26 June with The King’s Speech.

The series is hosted in collaboration with Health New Zealand –Te Whatu Ora and is open to Napier residents 65 years and over.

Napier City Councillor, Greg “Grego” Mawson, says the initiative highlights Napier City Council’s commitment to foster a supportive environment where seniors can actively engage and participate in the community.

“Silver Screen promises to deliver great entertainment and social connection for Napier’s senior community,” says Mawson. “The series beautifully aligns with the overarching vision of Napier’s Positive Ageing Strategy, enabling individuals to live well and age well."

Co-chair of the Positive Ageing Strategy Advisory Group, Peter Grant, says he’s thrilled to see organisations working collaboratively together to make Napier an Age Friendly City.

“We really appreciate the Council and Health NZ – Te Whatu Ora supporting our group in their endeavours. There are 300 seats at Century Theatre, and we want it to be a full house!”

Attendance at the Silver Screen Series is free, but bookings are essential. To RSVP or for further information, contact Napier City Council Customer Service at 06 835 7579 or email communityservices@napier.govt.nz
