It’s time to register Napier’s beloved pooches! If you live in Napier and have a dog 3-months or older, they must be registered.

The 2024 dog tag is blue! Registering your dog means we can maintain things like the two dog agility tracks and a dog shower at Park Island, or dog poo-bag dispensers around the city. We can collect lost or roaming dogs and take them to our shelter to look after them until they can be collected, help re-home them if that’s needed, investigate dog attacks on people and other animals and help with dog awareness education programmes.

There are many fantastic off-lead areas where you can let your dog run freely. Some popular spaces include Park Island, parts of Dolbel Reserve, Karetoki Whare (Sturms Gully) and Riverside Park (behind Pettigrew-Green Arena).

If you are registering a new dog, please print off the Dog Registration Form from our website, fill it out, and bring it to our Customer Service Centre at 215 Hastings Street. Our team will assist you in getting your canine companion registered in our system. For re-registering your dog, you have the option to either fill out the printable form or re-register them online.
