Hawke's Bay Marathon 2024 Road Closures

The Annual Hawkes Bay Marathon is upon us again. The race will be taking place on Saturday 18 May, with the event running from 6:00am to 4:00pm. The race will start at  Anderson Park Napier and finish Elephant Hill Estate and Winery Hastings. Road Closures will be in place from 6:00am and will be removed as the race is completed.

There will be a series of temporary road closures in place to allow for this event to safely take place. 

Road closures will be in place for the following locations:

  • Wharerangi Road between Westminster Avenue & York Avenue Entrance
  • Wharerangi Road between Westminster Avenue & Church Road.
  • West Place, Jacaranda Place and Thode Place will have entry and exit when it is safe to do so.
  • Westminster Avenue between Wharerangi Road and Glamorgan Avenue.
  • Donegal Crescent Between Westminster Avenue and Leeds Place.
  • Westminster Avenue between Avondale Road and York Avenue.
  • Merlot Drive No entry from Prebensen Drive.
  • Clyde Jeffery Drive No entry
  • Prebensen Drive.
  • Cato Road Closed.
  • Domain Road between Meeanee Quay and Pukeko Place.
  • James Street between Charles Street and Meeanee Quay.
  • West Quay Between Lever Street and Custom Quay.
  • Marine Parade south bound lane only, from Edwards Street, Warren Street to Ellison Street.

  • Please note all road closure timings are approximate and dependent on the race event timings. As the race is completed the traffic management crews will open roads as the final competitor is in a safe location.
  • Resident’s access and exit will be available from time to time during the event when it is safe to do so, this will be managed by the TTM and event staff on the day.
  • If you have a home or business in the area, please take the time to familiarise yourself with these closures.
  • Detours will be provided on the day, please follow the traffic management guidance.
  • There will be no on street parking available within any of the above noted road closure areas. Any unauthorised vehicles will be towed away at the owners’ risk and expense.
