Action April challenges the public to take small steps towards big change.
National Aquarium of New Zealand is hosting the month-long campaign aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation.
Rachel Haydon, General Manager National Aquarium of New Zealand says Action April is a fantastic opportunity to learn how small, realistic steps can make a significant impact.
“We want to make an important topic fun and achievable for our visitors. The aim of Action April is to learn cool ideas and great skills so you can make better, sustainable choices, easily,” says Rachel.
“If we can all make small changes in our daily lives, then we will make massive change together. And sometimes it’s taking the first step that is the hardest – so that’s where we want to help!” Rachel says.
Action April will be filled with events and workshops, including composting workshops, wardrobe swaps, and clean living workshops with partners like Environment Centre Hawke’s Bay and Eco Kiosk. Visitors can join a number of inspiring talks and discussions with waste-free expert Kate Meads. The campaign provides something for everyone and encourages visitors to bring their friends and family to participate.
With the theme of ‘Taking small steps towards big change - together!’, the campaign features interactive activities like a recycling race and button-sewing challenge. It will showcase information and ideas that highlight and promote the 6-Rs: recycle, repair, reuse, rethink, refuse, and reduce.
Visitors can also go in the draw to win one of three dining vouchers to use when exploring Hawke's Bay's cycle trails.
Action April activities are part of general admission. For more information and for tickets to one of the many events or workshops visit the National Aquarium of New Zealand website here.
