A visit to the National Aquarium these school holidays could be rewarding, with ten prize packs to be given out.
Hermy the hermit crab has arrived at the National Aquarium to try to find something. Cryptic clues have been left by Hermy on his journey around the Aquarium. Education Team Manager Amy Stevens says the clues will lead visitors on a journey of discovery.
“People will be able to learn more about hermit crabs and other sea life. We want to teach our visitors about the impact we humans have on ocean creatures.”
Visitors coming during the school holidays can be in to win by completing the Hermy the Hermit Crab activity sheet and designing their own home for Hermy. Go to nationalaquarium.co.nz for more details.
In addition to this, the National Aquarium runs school holiday programmes. Amy says the programmes aim to immerse children in the wonders of the natural world.
“Our hope is that children are inspired to form lasting positive connections with nature in a fun and safe environment.”
At the holiday programmes, children will enjoy behind the scenes visits, meeting our keepers, nature play, doing fun science experiments and heading outdoors for beach activities.
“We provide morning and afternoon tea, so all you need to do is pack a lunch and drop them off to us for the day,” says Amy.
Bookings can be made at nationalaquarium.co.nz.
