From 8am Thursday 12 November Redclyffe Transfer Station will be open to Napier residents to dispose of flood-affected household waste at no charge.

This service is to support the community and help Napier households to dispose of waste produced by this week’s weather event.

  • Free disposal will be for residential flood-damaged waste from Napier only, commercial operators and non-Napier residents will be charged as normal
  • Garden waste (grass clippings, hedge trimmings, and shrubbery) should be disposed of at BioRich, Awatoto
  • Vehicles will need to be weighed in and weighed out as normal
  • There will likely be extensive waiting periods and traffic management will be in place on Springfield Road
  • A second option for flood-affected Napier residents is Black Bridge Transfer Station, between Clive and Haumoana, which is less than 3km further to drive than driving to Redclyffe
  •  Account holders (builders and tradespersons) will be charged as normal
  • Licenced commercial waste collection operators ie those who use skip bins will be asked to divert directly to Omarunui Landfill.

A review of this change will be carried out on Wednesday 18 November.
