Te Kaunihera o Ahuriri recognises the significant implications that climate change will have for Napier and the need for mitigation and adaptation actions within Council and the wider community.
Climate change is the biggest challenge we will face as a society and requires significant change to the way we live, both to reduce the impacts, and adapt to a changing climate. Inaction has dominated in the climate change space but it is never too late to start.
Napier City Council recognises that we need to take urgent action to ensure that our city is ready for the future climate change will bring. We are committed to being leaders for our community in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and creating a climate resilient Napier. This position statement is our commitment to these actions and in particular these objectives:
We look forward to working with the community to find solutions that work for our people.
