Mayor and CouncillorsTe Koromatua me nga Kaikaunihera

Every three years the people of Napier elect a mayor and 12 councillors. They are then responsible for determining local legislation and defining the overall vision for the city for the next three years. They also appoint a CEO to manage day-to-day operations.

Mayor

Napier's current Mayor Bill Dalton was first elected to the position of Mayor in 2013 having previously served as an NCC councillor since 2007. It is not possible to succinctly summarise Mayor Dalton’s message to the city of Napier. it is more apt to provide it in full as follows.

Mayor's Message

Welcome to unique Napier. Napier has an environment which offers natural beauty, lifestyle choices for its residents, a commercially vibrant CBD and a range of fantastic facilities and amenities.

If you are a visitor, you'll find in these pages what a special place Napier is with its Art Deco features, Mediterranean-style climate, lifestyle activities, cafes, wineries and its intimate relationship with the seafront and harbour.

Every year we add value to our city with green pleasant spaces to sit and contemplate, activities for young people, events for everyone and an infrastructure that supports it all.

Your Councillors and I are available to deal with your concerns or listen to your suggestions. However, most of the day-to-day enquiries can be dealt with by officers who are competent and willing to help you.

I am proud of the city we have and look forward to the city it will become. This internet site is designed to inform you about what our city has to offer, now and in the future.
