LGNZ's candidates tips

LGNZ - Local Government New Zealand - have prepared a series of candidate preparation videos. Hear from the 'horse's mouth' - from councillors from around Aotearoa - about how councils work, what the job entails - and what skills you need to become an effective councillor.

Candidate Preparation videos

LGNZ have talked to the local government candidates who've been there, done that - and are keen to share their insights and experiences with you. Each of the following clips starts with a short summary of what you can expect to learn by the end of the video. We find it's best to watch them in the latest version of Chrome to avoid technical issues.

We hope these videos help you decide if being an elected member is for you, and if so, what role would suit you best. If you decide to run, then we wish you the very best of luck.

Oh, and if you need further information, then LGNZ's website is truly a trove for the aspiring candidate.
