Every three years the people of Napier vote for a Mayor and 12 councillors. To vote, you need to be on the New Zealand electoral roll and live in Napier permanently - or own property here. You also need to be 18 years or older, and be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
Our next local election is later this year. Postal voting opens Friday 20 September 2019 until Saturday 12 October 2019.
Standing as a candidate for Napier City Council is an opportunity for you to make a significant and lasting contribution to your community. But voting - participating in our local democracy - is just as important. As the old adage goes, every vote counts.
The Pre-election Report provides voters and candidates with information about the key issues facing Napier City Council, its financial position and its major projects scheduled in the next three years.Its purpose is to promote informed public discussion in the lead up to the local body elections on 12 October this year.
