Flexi bag service

We have introduced a free flexi bag collection service to residents who have small quantities of flood-damaged waste for disposal.

About the flexi bag service

We are using an additional service to manage flood-damaged waste removal for Napier residents. This is a service specifically for smaller quantities of flood-damaged waste. You can register for a delivery of one or two flexi bags to your residential property. Complete a registration online or call our Customer Service Centre on 06 835 7579. 

Details of what can be put in flexi bags is available in the Frequently Asked Questions below and is also on the bags themselves. Solutions for the collection of large quantities of flood-damaged waste is currently being planned and we will let you know once the plan is in place. Napier residents can continue to dispose of flood-damaged waste for free at the Redclyffe Transfer Station. 

How to register for the service

  1. Complete the online registration form below.
  2. We will deliver the required number of flexi bags to the address provided.
  3. Fill your 3x3m flexi bag with flood-damaged waste. Ensure the contents of the bag does not exceed 1 tonne. It is important to only fill your bag with the approved materials listed in the Frequently Asked Questions below. Approved materials are also detailed on the bags.
  4. Once filled and sealed, present the bags at kerbside. Guidelines on how to present your bags for collection are detailed in the Frequently Asked Questions below or on the bags themselves.
  5. For collection, please email sale@lowcostbins.co.nz with your address and contact phone number or call 0800 754 748. Please allow 3 - 4 buinsiness days for the team to collect your flexi bag(s).

  • Flexi bags are 3 x 3m in size. 
  • The contents of the bag must not exceed the maximum weight og 1000kg.
  • Do not fill the bag up past the top edges as the operator will not be able to remove the load.
  • It is recommended the first 20cm of the bag is filled with heavy material (e.g. concrete, soil, bricks and rubble) and the remainder of the bag is filled with lighter items.
  • Solutions for the collection of large quantities of flood-damaged waste is currently being investigated and will be communicated to residents once a plan is in place.
  • Napier residents can continue to dispose of flood-damaged waste for free at the Redclyffe Transfer Station.

Please follow the below guidelines when placing your flexi bag out for collection:

  1. Do not place under a tree or within 4 meters of a tree branch.
  2. Do not place within 4 meters of a phone or power line
  3. Collection trucks require a height clearance of 9 meters
  4. Please place your flexi bag no more than 3 meters from the kerb or driveway. Flexi bags must be within your property boundary
  5. The driveway access must be a minimum of 3 meters wide for the collection truck to enter. Please ensure access to the bag collection is clear and flat.

Instructions for use are also clearly labelled on flexi bag packaging.
