COVID-19 Traffic Light System Red

As at 11:59pm Sunday 23 January 2022, Napier is at Red of the COVID-19 traffic light system. Napier City Council is committed to ensuring the safe delivery of all services under the new COVID-19 Protection Framework, and in line with Government and Ministry of Health guidelines, there will be some changes made to how our public-facing services will be delivered.

Council Services and Facilities at Red

From April 4 2022, vaccine passes will not be required at any of Napier City Council's facilities and services.

Please continue to follow Ministry of Health guidelines:

Wear masks when and where required
Keep physically distanced where possible
If you have cold or flu symptoms isolate immediately and get a test

What does life at Red mean for us?

Vaccine Passes will no longer be required and Government vaccine mandates for all sectors except health and disability workers, prison staff, and border workers will no longer be in place.
Businesses will still be able to use Vaccine Passes if they choose to.
There are no limits for outdoor activities, such as gatherings and events, and food and drink businesses.
There is a 200-person limit for indoor gatherings and events.
If My Vaccine Passes are not used, the gathering limits remain unchanged.
You do not need to wear a face mask outdoors.
Other face mask rules remain unchanged — face masks are still required in most indoor settings.
There is no requirement to scan in or for a business to display a QR code poster or have mandatory record keeping.
