Council Facilities & Services at Level 2

As we move to Alert level 2 Napier City Council is making changes to its services in line with advice from the Ministry of Health.

Animal Control Shelter  Open  
Building consents Open


Burials and cemeteries  Open  Under Alert Level 2 now a maximum of 100 people are allowed at outdoor events and venues, not including workers. Indoor venues are allowed a maximum of 50 people.
Council meetings  Open  Council meetings will continue as normal. The meetings will be live streamed on the NCC Facebook. The recorded meeting will be posted to the NCC YouTube channel. For more information - Council meetings 
Customer service  Open 

NCC Customer Service Centre will remain open Monday- Friday. Open hour: weekdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm - Contactless payment available.  

Waste Services  Kerbside rubbish, recycling will continue. 

Our kerbside recycling service will continue during Alert Level 2.

  • Glass will be collected and sorted at the kerb as normal;
  • Plastics, Tins and Cans will be collected and sent to a sorting facility and not landfill;
  • Cardboard and Paper will continue to be collected and recycled locally to continue the circular economy.
  • Crates for new properties and replacement crates will be delivered from Lockdown Level 3 downwards (i.e. Levels 3, 2 and 1).

Your kerbside recycling collection will continue as normal, however the following changes remain in place at Alert Level 2. 

What can I do to help you?

  1. Put your crates out by 7am, just like you normally do;
  2. Do not approach our collection vehicles or personnel;
  3. Give your crates a good wash (particularly on the contact points (handles and rims etc)
Redclyffe Transfer Station  Open

Redclyffe Transfer Station remains open to the public and will be accepting general waste, recycling and green waste.

If you are visiting the transfer station, please remember: contact tracing, social distancing and a face covering is required, and in order to manage demand, users are encouraged to come on their usual kerbside collection day.

We would like people to adhere to the COVID-19 guidance so: Stay at home if you are feeling unwell.

The taps are cleaned and disinfected periodically, but we ask that you wash your hands as soon as you get home, as this facility is used by many.
