Do you have an idea that can be turned into a way to help businesses that have lost income because of the pandemic?

Napier City Council has set up a $50,000 fund to help Napier businesses that have lost income because of the pandemic.

Funding Priority

The fund focuses on supporting businesses and organisations with ideas that improve revenues in businesses most vulnerable from the loss of income including:

  • Retail businesses
  • Tourism and Leisure businesses
  • Hospitality businesses
  • Event organisers

What can be funded

The fund will support costs associated with:

  • Online marketing/Website development/other promotions
  • Activation/events
  • IT/digital development
  • Promotional materials


Eligible costs include:

  • The development and /or implementation of ideas.
  • Services or initiatives targeted to Napier businesses.
  • Other sources of funds must be disclosed

What Will Not Be Funded

  • Building maintenance
  • Deposit, loan or debt repayments
  • Bank or lawyer’s fees
  • Fundraising
  • Salaries/wages that have already been funded or where a wage subsidy has been provided by central government
  • Napier City Council reserves the right to refer an application to other funding providers if they deem those providers to be more suitable for the particular application

Applications will be accepted until 15 June 2020 or until the fund is fully allocated, whichever is earlier.


All eligible applications are assessed and forwarded to the Team Napier Fund Panel for decision as they are submitted.
