Following on from his outstanding 2018 talk about Post 1931 Marine Parade, renowned Art Deco historian Michael Fowler will explore the developments since 1957 on the Parade and reveal how one of its Art Deco treasures was nearly demolished.
Michael’s 50 minute talk will discuss how after the Art Deco period, Napier’s Marine Parade development went into hibernation during World War II. It wasn’t until the late 1950s a resurgence occurred under Mayor Sir Peter Tait. Michael’s talks are a must for all Art Deco lovers and his latest book called ‘Historic Hawke’s Bay’, will be available for purchase after the talk.
