Several times a year NCC bring inspiring business speakers to the Napier Conference Centre. The format begins with a light 7am breakfast before the event’s speaker takes the stage at 7.30am. Presentations are approximately one hour concluding with a Q&A session.
The Business Breakfast Series is organised by Napier City Council and events are offered to the business community of Hawke’s Bay quarterly. We encourage businesses large and small to attend and to learn from the range of inspiring business leaders who speak and lead discussion on a variety of topics.
If you would like to receive invitations for future breakfasts, please email email@example.com
Rob Fyfe is our first speaker for 2019 on Monday 4 March.
Rob Fyfe was CEO of Air New Zealand from 2005 to 2012, during this time the national carrier won every Best Airline in the World award worth having. Moving to outdoor clothing brand Icebreaker®, Rob oversaw the 2017 sale of the iconic Kiwi company to the VF Corporation (the US giant that has The North Face, Vans and Timberlands in its stable).
A charismatic leader with a distinctly Kiwi down-to-earth humility, Rob’s work could be summed up as taking New Zealand to the world. ‘Dare to be Different’ is his maxim for success in today’s competitive environment. Dig a little deeper and he’ll tell you a business needs to be authentic – from the products they offer, to ‘being’ their brand. And the benefits are obvious – not only do you attract more customers, you get the right people to work for you.
At the March breakfast, Rob will share lessons learnt from his storied career (which, it won’t surprise you to know, is busier than ever: Rob is currently on the boards of Michael Hill International and Air Canada, is a strategic advisor to Craggy Range Wines, VF Corporation and Icebreaker (on supply chain ethics and issues of modern slavery and human trafficking), and also the New Zealand Government on the Pike River Mine re-entry. Whew!
