A new roundabout to improve safety and travel times.
Work on a new roundabout for the intersection between Thames Street and Pandora Road will begin late January and will be carried out by contractor Russell Roads.
The new roundabout will improve road safety for all users and travel time reliability for freight traffic to Napier Port. Currently freight traffic in and out of Thames Street can cause delays for other road users.
The roundabout will also improve access to the Pandora Industrial area and will provide safer walking and cycling choices on Pandora Road.
No roads will be closed during construction but there will be a considerable amount of traffic management in place, and likely delays during peak traffic hours. Regular users of Pandora Road should consider alternative routes once work begins, such as over Napier Hill or using the Ahuriri Bypass if heading into town.
Works to commence mid to late-January 2021
The project is estimated to take 30 weeks.
