Ellison & Chambers Streets pathway safety improvements

A new shared pathway and a number of crossing points, including raised crossings, will provide safer access for local students and residents across Marine Parade & SH51.

The pathway will eventually link up with the existing ones in Alexander and Te Awa Parks.

The changes are aimed at slowing vehicles and increasing safety for other road users.

At the same time we’re going to be replacing some of the stormwater and wastewater pipes, in Creagh and McGrath Streets.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is funding this project from the infrastructure targeted portion of the 2020 COVID Response & Recovery Fund.

$2.7m (MBIE), $380,000 (NCC stormwater and wastewater improvements)

Completion date:

April 2022
