Napier Dog Park
Planning Started: 2014
Construction Started: August 2015
Completed: September 2015
A dog agility track was built at Riverside Park in Taradale.
The track provides a fun way to exercise dogs and will be utilised by both local residents and professional dog trainers. The agility equipment will include a balance beam, hurdles, a bridge, a round tunnel plus other obstacles.
This reserve is already used extensively by Napier residents to exercise their dogs and is a semi-rural environment.
The space is fenced to 1800mm with Euro link style fencing and fitted with a self-closing and latching gate. The fencing is an integral part of the training area as more boisterous dogs may tend to roam without this constraint.
The enclosure is fitted with a dog waste dispenser and waste bin. Lawn mowing and reserve maintenance will be undertaken by Reserves staff with all other minor maintenance undertake by Animal Control staff.
The budget for the project is $60,000.
