Minor Works

Below are some of the minor works projects that were completed in 2015.

Battery Road Flush Median

Planning Started: January 2015
Construction Started: 11 May 2015
Completed: 20 May 2015

A flush median was included in a reconfiguration of road markings on Battery Road to provide drivers with better line of sight when turning at Goldsmith Road, Lever Street and Ossian Street.

The flush median allows drivers to wait to move into a gap in the traffic flow after they've turned onto Battery Road, or to slow down and wait before turning right from the road.

Warning signs were also installed on Battery Road along both approaches advising drivers to slow down and also of a concealed access around the bend when approaching from Hyderabad Road.

Marine Parade Fitness Equipment

Planning Started: January 2015
Construction Started: TBA
Completed: 10 June 2015

Outdoor fitness equipment has been installed on reserve land just south of the National Aquarium of New Zealand.

Designed and manufactured in Hawke’s Bay by GymGuru, the exercise equipment includes an AB stretcher, leg press, overhead press, hip swing and grinder.

The machines resistance levels are adjusted using electromagnetic fields, meaning there are few external moving parts, making them suitable for outdoor conditions and resistant to vandalism.

Te Awa Avenue upgrade

Construction Started: August 2015
Completed: February 2016

Remedial work was undertaken on Te Awa Avenue, between Te Awa Estates and the southern end of Napier Boys' High School to make the road smoother and tidier. A new footpath on the western side was also installed.
