Chlorine Free Review

Council’s Chlorine Free Review Consultants collaborated with the peer review team to work through the findings in the draft document. The teams work across four different countries and brought a very high level of expertise to the review, identifying the complexities around providing a safe chlorine free network and the likely costs to implement the improvements.

The review involved a range of local and international consultants looking at two main options for our community.

  1. Continuing with chlorine and upgrading our network, maintenance practices, risk management and monitoring etc. with chlorine disinfection. Called “Status Quo Plus”
  2. Providing a safe water supply without chlorine.

The options from the Chlorine-Free Drinking Water Review were included in the Long Term Plan 2021-31 consultation which closed on 12 May 2021.
