Competition Terms & Conditions

This competition invites entries for projects that provide an opportunity for people to work together for the benefit of others – not personal benefit.

  • Entries are accepted from formal and informal groups in Napier neighbourhoods and communities – e.g. a group of neighbours, a group of park users, a club with a common interest etc.
  • Entries can be submitted simply by uploading a video or multimedia presentation to the Competition page and completing the entry form. See Competition Information for more details.
  • Important Dates
    Entries open – 22nd March 2019
    Entries close – 26th April 2019
    Winners Announced – 17th May 2019
  • Prize Money - Up to $8000 is available to fund the winning projects.
  • Prize money can be used for - Equipment (hire or purchase), plants, food, materials and resources, volunteer costs.
  • Prize money cannot be used for - Projects costing under $100 or over $5000, expenditure already incurred, reunions, fundraising events, projects or campaigns, alcohol, building maintenance, deposit, loan or debt repayments, bank or lawyers fees, organisational operating costs (such as power, rent, telephone costs), wages or salaries, project manager/coordinator fees.
  • Napier City Council (NCC) staff will support with getting permissions or consent that may be required from other NCC departments to implement winning projects, like art installations etc.
  • Judging – A panel of NCC staff, youth council and community representatives will judge the entries and select the winning projects Decisions made by the panel will be final and binding.
  • Winning projects will be notified by phone and email on 17th May 2019. Results will also be posted on NCC’s website and social media.
  • Media – Winning projects will be profiled by Napier City Council through a media release and on social media. Winning groups will be photographed by NCC to showcase the projects.
  • Completion - Winning projects must be completed within six months of competition closing, and groups will supply photos and/or videos from the project in action to NCC.
