Centennial Park Waterwheel

The Centennial Park Waterwheel.Located in Taradale's Centennial Park, this timber-built waterwheel replaces the original built for Mount St Mary Seminary before World War I. Connected to a small generator, it provided electric lighting for the brothers and priests.

The restored wheel was crafted by Parks Department carpenter Hans Hengst.

Supported by a timber frame, it was placed in the park in 1970.

Built by Parks Workshop 1990 JTH Napier City Council.
