Napier’s Community Hub is home to 18 community and social service agencies, with space for 11 more. These agencies provide a range of services such as advocacy support, budget advice, support for disabled people, and volunteer coordination
In May 2006 the Aon building on 62 Raffles Street in Napier, formerly known as the Langley Twigg building, became the new base for eighteen community and social service organisations.
Working together with the Napier Community House Trust, the Napier City Council secured levels 1 and 2 in the Aon building to provide office accommodation for up to 29 community organisations. Aon Insurance brokers are a separate entity from the Napier Community House set up and operate their business on the ground floor.
Since May 1st 2006, many groups have secured long term leases for office spaces of various sizes and lease costs. The community groups provide a range of services such as advocacy support, budget advice, support for disabled people, employment assistance, health education and coordination of volunteers.
Many of the tenant organisations have already benefited in their association with the Napier Community Hub by networking, sharing of information and collaboration of resources. There are savings in sharing of operational costs as well as having access to common resources such as the reception services, photocopier, fax, meeting rooms and kitchen.

We are looking for friendly and positive volunteers to look after the reception area to provide customer service for the Napier Community House. We currently have a good team of 5 volunteers but are always on the look out for more warm and capable volunteers to support the team.
If you can spare 4 hours during the working week to support this community project, please contact the Community Development Advisor.
Volunteers will be given an induction to assist in the role of a volunteer to ensure a high level of service to visitors and tenant organisations. The guidelines will help volunteers to provide a consistent level of procedures and processes of the reception operation of the Napier Community House.
The key elements of the operation covered in the guidelines will be covered as part of your induction as a volunteer. The list below is some of the duties volunteers will be asked to do.
Full details of the guidelines will be covered by the Napier Community House Coordinator as part of the induction process.
