The Napier Youth Council has been allocated $5000 to support young people to run their own events targeted at youth. This one-off fund is available with five grants worth $1000.

Who can apply?

Groups and individuals between the ages of 16 and 24, living in Napier, who want to run a public event targeted at youth in Napier.

  • One person per event may apply.
  • The event must target primarily Napier residents.
  • Events should be alcohol free.
  • If selected, you should be willing to have your photo used for promotional material.
  • Successful groups will be assigned a youth council advisor to help connect them to support where needed.
  • Applications must be for future events, not for events that are already completed.
  • The money must only go towards event costs.
  • Applicants must fill out their own forms.
  • Applications must be received on or before the closing date.
  • Successful applicants must report back to the youth council after the event and provide a simple evaluation. What went well, what did not and ideas for next time.
  • Events must be completed by 30 June 2025.

When are applications open?

Applications for the 2024 Youth Events Fund will open on Friday 27 September until Sunday 27 October.

How do I apply?

Complete the online form with the following information:

  • Tell us about your event
    • What is your event?
    • Who is it for?
    • Why should we support you?
    • How will you promote the event?
  • A proposed budget for the event
  • A plan about how you intend to raise the remaining money needed for your project.
  • Send a video pitch to the Napier Youth Council

Smarty Grants is an online portal that allows grant makers to track their progress and receive notifications on upcoming grant opportunities, ensuring that they are always up-to-date with the latest information. Smarty Grants simplifies the grant application process, providing organisations, groups and individuals with access to a wide range of funding opportunities. This means applicants will now need to create a Smarty Grants profile to apply for funding.

No hard copy applications will be accepted, and no late applications will be considered.
