Community venues for hire

About our venues

Napier City Council provides a range of halls and venues for hire. While each of our venues has its own unique charm, they do share a few common conditions. All venues are smokefree and vapefree, hirers need to follow emergency procedures, an alcohol license is required if you plan to serve drinks, and a security bond may apply. Arthur Richards Hall

Located in the centre of the Arthur Richards Village, this versatile hall provides an ideal space for a variety of purposes including meetings, gatherings, and recreational activities.

Centennial Event Centre

The Centennial Event Centre, adjacent to McLean Park, is a major indoor venue in Hawke's Bay. It's suitable for large-scale banquets, sporting events, trade shows, and concerts.

Chapman Pavilion

Located at McLean Park, this venue’s two lounge areas are ideal for weddings, social functions and business events.

Co-Lab Taradale

This meeting space, located in the old Taradale Community Rooms, is available for hire and is perfect for small meetings, seminars or presentations.

Graeme Lowe Stand

Located at McLean Park, the stand's two high-end lounge areas are perfect for business meetings and social gatherings.

Greenmeadows East Community Hall

This venue has two areas for hire: the main hall for weddings, functions and seminars, and a meeting room. The meeting room is suitable for small meetings, business functions and seminars.

King George Hall

This venue offers two areas for hire; the main hall and the supper room/kitchen. The main hall accommodates 180 people, seating 120-130 for dining. It's popular for weddings, reunions, parties, theatre productions, and craft fairs/expos.

Meeanee Indoor Sports Centre

This center offers four badminton courts with drop lights for public hire via swipe card. It accommodates most indoor sports, with an upstairs seating area and kitchen facilities available.

Meeanee Memorial Hall

Built in 1956, this country hall honors Meeanee residents who served in the world wars. It hosts birthday parties, rock gigs, and social gatherings.

Memorial Square Rooms

This facility is currently closed until further notice as we are remedying structural issues. However, alternative showering and baby change facilities are available at the i-SITE on Marine Parade. There are also toilets in the lower Tennyson St and lower Dickens St car parks.

Napier Municipal Theatre

The Napier Municipal Theatre combines elegant art deco style with modern theatre facilities, making it a flexible event and function venue. With two event spaces, theatre seating for up to 989, full bar and catering facilities as well as a dedicated team to help bring your event together.

Napier War Memorial Centre

Napier Conferences & Events at the Napier War Memorial Centre offers stunning panoramic views over the Pacific Ocean, making it an ideal venue for weddings, business meetings, trade shows, exhibitions, community events, and all types of celebrations and functions.

Soundshell

The Napier Soundshell located on Marine Parade, is a vibrant venue perfect for a variety of events. Non-profit organisations can enjoy the stage area free of charge, with optional backstage access and power available for a small charge.

Taradale Town Hall

The Taradale Town Hall offers two rooms for hire: the Town Hall which seats up to 160 for weddings, functions, and meetings, and the Rotary Lounge, ideal for gatherings of up to 70. The venue includes a projector, sound system, kitchen facilities and more.

The Base – Maraenui

The Base is a small venue located in the hub of Maraenui. This meeting room has a capacity of 12 seated and 18 standing. The Base is suitable for small meetings and community gatherings.
