Every one of us can make a difference. Keep an eye out for your neighbours and give them a helping hand when you can.
Looking out for each other is just part of being a good neighbour and for our older neighbours living alone this is even more important. ‘Look out for your neighbour’ is a Safer Napier campaign launched in 2019 that encourages people to reach out and connect with their neighbours.
Below are some quick tips on how to stay in touch:
If you’re worried about your neighbour call New Zealand Police on 105 or Age Concern Napier on 06 842 1346.
Safer Napier is an accredited International Safe Community. Over 50 agencies, organisations and groups are working together and taking a coordinated approach to improve community safety in Napier.
There are a range of projects and activities that contribute to Safer Napier. It is an ‘umbrella’ for over 60 initiatives and projects. Safer Napier takes a strengths based approach to support families / whānau and neighbourhoods to address safety issues. Visit the Safer Napier webpage more information.
