Napier Time Bank trading system to be launched in Pirimai

Published: 11 August 2016

Last Updated: 12 May 2017

Pirimai Residents Association will officially launch Time Bank in Napier at noon on Sunday 21 August, at Allen Berry Avenue Reserve in Pirimai.

Time Bank is a trading system for exchanging skills, knowledge and labour with people in your local community. The currency is time rather than money, so “time credits” are used as payment.  One hour of work equals one time credit, no matter what type of work it is, from gardening to childcare, cooking to computer support. It can be managed through an online account or directly through the Time Bank Coordinators.

Secretary Maree Leatherby says it is in keeping with their goal of building vibrant, healthy, interconnected communities in Napier.

“We want to create and promote well-being, and help our community to flourish and thrive. Time Bank is a great way to share skills between both individuals and community groups.”

The Association’s Time Bank project has been supported by Napier City Council Community Development.
